Don't judge it by the outside

From the parking lot, The Block looks like an older hotel, but don't let that fool you. It's been fully renovated, and inside it's clean, modern and full of thoughtful touches like warm wood, leather chairs, lots of plants and a living wall with the hotel's name.

The location is hard to beat. You're less than 10 minutes from the Bentonville Square, the shops at Pinnacle Hills Promenade (and my favorite restaurant, Local Lime) and Walmart Headquarters, so it's an easy home base for a weekend of shopping, art and good food.

The room

Hotel bed with crisp white bedding, a tan leather headboard and a wood slat accent wall

The room felt clean and modern, and we all got a great night's sleep.

We loved the little extras that made it easy to settle in:

Keurig coffee maker with coffee pods on a wood counter

The hotel says in-room bike storage is in its Boutique rooms, so book one of those if you're bringing a bike for the trails.

Free hot breakfast

Breakfast is included and starts at 6 AM. There's a make-your-own waffle station, hot trays, biscuits and gravy with tater tots, bagels, cereal, juice and coffee. The boys loved it!

Bonus: Starbucks is literally right next door, just across the hotel parking lot, so you can also grab coffee and breakfast there.

The gym

The 24-hour gym is small but has everything you need for a real workout on the road: a treadmill, an elliptical, a recumbent bike, an adjustable bench, a full rack of dumbbells, resistance bands and a mat.

The lounge & snack market

The shared lounge is huge, with leather couches, big TVs, long work tables with charging stations and cozy reading nooks. It's a great spot to hang out, work or play a game with the kids. Off the lobby, the “Treat Yourself” market has drinks, snacks and Block Hotel tumblers.

Kid- and pet-friendly

This is an easy stay with kids. Between the big breakfast, the lounge and the snack market, the boys were happy. If you're bringing your dog, The Block is pet-friendly and has a big fenced dog park right off the parking lot. There's a per-stay pet fee, so check the details when you book.
